It's just a name....

No.  It’s not JUST a name.  Names are very important.  I wonder if we are aware of just how important they are.

Biblical names were extremely important,  names almost prophesied over the life of the person.  After making a simple search in scripture, I found dozens of times that names were given ‘because’.

Beginning in Genesis 3:20 NIV  “Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.”  All the way to Matthew 1:21, "…… will name him Jesus--'God saves'--because he will save his people from their sins." (from The Message)

Eve means life giver.  She became the first mother.
Jesus means life saver.  He became the first and only Savior.

I wonder what my name says about me.  Did my name have any impact on who I am, who I have become.

What does your name say about you?

Connie is Latin for ‘constant’ and ‘steadfast’. Can I fulfill the requirements of that name?

I am certainly given what is needed to fulfill that name.  I am given the Holy Spirit of God Who empowers me and equips me to be indeed steadfast, sure, and constant.  He has preserved His written Word, scripture that “…. is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,  so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (1Timothy 3:17 NIV)

My name is Connie.  I am constant and steadfast not because of mother Eve or my birth mother who gave me my name.  I am constant and steadfast because of my Savior Jesus who calls me Friend.  “ …., I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15 NIV)

“… the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ…..will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” (1Peter 5:10 NIV)

Hallelujah.
